This is the time of year when we celebrate the birth of Jesus. It may not be arguably the precise date however, it is for all mankind, a very important season. Every parent is happy about the birth of their child despite the date. What is important for us is that he was born. The value of his birth is easily seen in the quality of life he led.
His life was transformative – healing the sick, casting out devils; a word with power, principles to live by; and salvation by trust in his finished work on the cross (Romans 10:9-10)
Isaiah 9:6 states “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given…” The word son here means He is no longer a child. He is full-grown or mature. A mature son knows the will of his father – he has communication, conversation, and prayer. He has a relationship with His father. This relationship can only be had through Jesus, the son that was given. Only mature sons can walk in the inheritance of God.
Through the life of Jesus, the mature one, we know that we can love, trust and believe Him. Believe in His words and His promises. Through having a relationship with God, we grow in maturity and can reap the inheritance promised to us.
Let us celebrate the gift that God has given us, His son Christ Jesus.
